New update of MineCraft

A temporary world is up again until we can get plugins to work. This should take less time than last time, when 1.8 came out.

Until now, everyone is in Creative Mode and can explore the new features of the new version; this map will be deleted once we can go back to the old world. As a reminder, our forum is here (<— clicky).

Why we have a temporary world? Because we need the multiplayer stuff to update, meaning Bukkit itself and the plugins. We can’t play on the regular world without the plugins because we wouldn’t be able to find griefs and your stuff wouldn’t be privated. So right now just enjoy the time on the server and stay calm, we’ll back as soon as we can.

Old world download

As promised, you can download our previous old map with the following links. Unfortunately, due to filesize limits, I couldn’t simply upload a single zip-file. The files have a total size of 313 MB. You will need to download all three files and use the program WinRAR to extract the files. Place the folder world in MineCraft’s saves folder to play it in Singleplayer.

Part 1 (143 MB)

Part 2 (143 MB)

Part 3 (28 MB)

More info!

We’re doing Freebuild Friday again, so in case you get a message that you’re not on the whitelist, don’t panic! We probably just forgot to add your name, or you’re new to the server and we don’t know you yet. Posting to our forum is the best way to make yourself heard!

Also, while you’re at the forum, be sure to take part in the vote whether Freebuild Fridays should take place every week or only once every two weeks. :)

Meanwhile, on our regular world, the lag at the spawn area seems to get better, so we’ll probably have the main spawn building back there. Sorry about all the changing around, our starting into the new Survival world has been very bumpy; thanks to everyone for being patient and for bringing in suggestions for PenguinCraft :)

Sorry for all the technical stuff recently, I’ll try to get some screenshots up in the next few days. Take care!

Whitelist, Freebuild-map

We’d love some feedback from everyone on recent things we’re considering on introducing, namely having a whitelist up on week-ends (since we’re a little too busy then) and perhaps having a Freebuild map up one day a week, as to have some MC-fun quite different to our usual strict Survival map.

http://pencra.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=7&mforum=pencra ~ Make yourself heard!

Meanwhile, on the regular map:

  • You can set multiple homes now! Sorry it took so long to get it fixed. You can even add names, such as /sethome cave to go back there with /home cave. Keep in mind it’s /sethome, without a space in between!
  • We’ve lost our money database yet again. Please contact an op to get it restored; finding out your amount before the reset takes some time, so we can’t restore it for everyone at once.
  • Lag in the spawn area persists. Right now, we presume it’s because of the bank (the number of chests), so we’ll try to divide it into smaller banks. The spawn building has been moved outside, so you needn’t worry that you’ll be stuck in lag if you do /spawn.

Map Change (#2)

We’re switching map in a few hours, here’s what you need to know:

  • You will have the money you had on the old map, but you’ll have to wait for an admin to restore it manually, because the plugin updated and uses a different database type.
  • For those who missed the whole chest transferring process, contact Lucas and we’ll sort something out. This offer only stands until next Friday (Oct 14th) and is not applicable to players who already transferred a fair amount of materials. You’ve had one week’s time.
  • A few new rules on the map to prevent the map from being “worn out” so fast: Digging down vertically from the surface will be punished, as will leaving behind one-block towers, done for the mere purpose of orientation or to gain access to higher grounds.
  • The spawn consists of a closed off area with the main spawn building, the shop/market, the bank and the postboard. Within that spawn area, you’re not allowed to break blocks (because otherwise it’s bye bye trees & flowers within five minutes!), except at obvious places, such as posting on the postboard, selling things at the market or changing stuff in your bank vault~
  • The bank vault is where your transferred chests are; also please check the “overflow vault” at the blue floor if you had a lot transferred. We’d appreciate it if you removed those chests from there.
  • Lastly, there’s a bedrock wall that will be removed once 1.9 comes out. This is so that we’ve got 1.9 biomes fairly close to the spawn. Going beyond these temporary boundaries will result in an instant ban.

The Map Change

The map change has been accepted, here’s what you need to know:

  • We will only switch when the new version will be out. UPDATE: We will probably switch next Friday (Oct 7th).
  • There is a main chest room where you can place the items you want transferred to the new world: /warp mapchange. You will lose the things you’ve got on you (your inventory), so be sure to chest your valuables there! And be sure to lock your chests, so that your things stay safe and we know to whom the chest belongs.
  • Your money accounts will stay.

With that said, don’t panic, you’ve got enough time to move your belongings. You’ll be warned before we’ll change.

Questions can be asked on the forum, which is more convenient than in MineCraft chat.

Regarding ‘World Switch’

Hello players of PenguinCraft, you may have heard that there is the possibility of a world switch. Now before you get so mad your head partially ruptures in several places we’d like you to know that:

  • The map won’t change unless it gets the majority vote.
  • You will be able to keep your items, but not buildings. With the exception of particularly unique and significant buildings.
  • The idea sprung up to enable us to get the full ‘adventure’ experience, IE rivers, ravines, mountains, and new biomes, dungeons and strongholds.

For further information on the switch and where you can vote (for/against) please go and sign up at the penguincraft forum:

http://pencra.s4.bizhat.com/index.php?mforum=pencra

And a link to the official world switch post:

Thanks!!

We’re Back

Bukkit has released the Recommended Build for MineCraft 1.8.1, which means we’re back on our Survival map! For those who joined us during our temporary Freebuild map, please take note that there will be no item spawning anymore, nor will flying or x-raying be tolerated.

Since the map we’re back on now was generated with MineCraft 1.7, chests are being displayed weirdly. Don’t worry, all your stuff is still there! You might have to remove the chest and place it again for it to look normal again, but that’s all.

Thanks to everyone for their support during this time! It feels good to be back :3

You can download the temporary world here: temp18.zip (180 MB). Unzip it and put the folder “temp18” in your MineCraft’s saves folder to play it on single player.
